Private Morocco Tour from Tangier to Marrakech

Private Morocco Tour from Tangier to Marrakech

Itineraries

Day 1

Tangier – Tetouan – Chefchaouen

Our journey through Morocco begins in Tangier, one of the country's main gateways from the north. At the agreed time, our driver will pick you up directly from the airport, port, or your hotel, depending on your arrival point, and we will set off on a private journey through northern Morocco.

Our first stop will be Tetouan, a historic city located at the foot of the Rif Mountains. Its beautiful medina is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the city still preserves strong historical links with Spain, particularly visible in the architecture of the modern Ensanche district.

Walking through the old town, you will discover a fascinating combination of traditional Moroccan architecture and Mediterranean and Andalusian influences. Tetouan is the perfect introduction to the cultural diversity that characterizes the rest of the journey.

After exploring Tetouan, we will continue towards the Rif Mountains, travelling through beautiful mountain landscapes and traditional villages. Nestled between the mountains lies Chefchaouen, one of Morocco's most famous destinations and widely known as the “Blue City” because of the distinctive blue tones covering many of the buildings in its medina.

Upon arrival, you will have free time to explore Chefchaouen at your own pace. Wander through its narrow streets, discover colourful handicraft shops, cross its charming squares and reach Uta el-Hammam Square, the heart of the old town, dominated by the historic Kasbah.

The evening will be free to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this unique mountain town.

After breakfast, we will leave Chefchaouen and continue our journey towards Fes, one of Morocco's most important imperial cities.

We will depart in the morning so that there is plenty of time to discover Fes upon arrival. The city is one of Morocco's great cultural and historical centres, while its ancient medina is considered one of the largest and most fascinating in the country.

Once in Fes, you will meet a local guide who will accompany you on a walking tour through the historic medina. This is the best way to understand the city's history, discover its monuments and experience the unique atmosphere of its narrow streets, traditional markets and artisan workshops.

Among the highlights of the guided tour are the Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University, Nejjarine Square, the Attarine Madrasa and the famous Chouara Tanneries, where leather is still processed using traditional methods.

In the afternoon, you will have free time to continue exploring Fes according to your interests. You may visit the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter, or walk towards the area surrounding the Royal Palace and its impressive gates.

This is also a great opportunity to explore the souk of the medina, where local artisans sell ceramics, woodwork, textiles, leather goods and many other traditional Moroccan products.

Day 3

Fes – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert

On the third day, the scenery changes completely. We will leave behind the lively streets of the Fes medina and head towards the Middle Atlas Mountains, discovering some of the most impressive natural landscapes in Morocco before reaching the Sahara Desert.

We will leave Fes in the morning and make our first stop in Ifrane, an elegant mountain town famous for its distinctive European-style architecture. Due to its alpine appearance and cooler climate, Ifrane is often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco.”

We will then continue towards the Ifrane National Park, known for its extensive cedar forests and its population of Barbary macaques. These monkeys live freely in the forest and, with a little luck, you may have the opportunity to observe them in their natural environment.

As we continue south, we will cross the Middle Atlas and gradually descend towards the drier landscapes of southeastern Morocco.

Our route will take us through the spectacular Ziz Valley, where green palm groves and oases contrast beautifully with the surrounding mountains and arid landscapes.

Later in the afternoon, we will reach Erfoud, a town particularly famous for its fossils, minerals and locally crafted stone products. From here, we will continue towards Merzouga, the gateway to the impressive dunes of Erg Chebbi.

In Merzouga, we will leave our vehicle and begin an unforgettable camel ride across the desert dunes. Riding through the golden landscape as the light changes over the Sahara is one of the highlights of any journey through southern Morocco.

Our destination will be the desert camp, where you will be welcomed with a traditional Moroccan mint tea.

After dinner, you will have time to relax beneath the stars before spending the night in a comfortable traditional Berber desert tent.

Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Valley of Roses – Ouarzazate

The fourth day begins early for those who wish to experience one of the most magical moments of the journey: sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes.

As the first rays of sunlight appear on the horizon, the golden sand gradually changes colour, creating an unforgettable desert landscape. After sunrise, we will return to the camp for breakfast.

We will then head back to Merzouga, where our vehicle will be waiting. Depending on the accommodation package selected, you will have the opportunity to take a shower either at the desert camp or at a hotel in Merzouga.

We will then leave the desert behind and make a stop in Rissani, an historic town and an important commercial centre in the region. On market days, Rissani becomes particularly lively, offering an authentic glimpse into traditional local life.

From Rissani, we will continue towards the Todra Gorges, one of the most spectacular natural attractions in southern Morocco. The Todra River has carved an impressive canyon through the mountains, creating enormous rocky walls that are especially popular with nature lovers and climbers.

The journey will then continue through the Dades Valley, an area known for its dramatic rock formations, palm-filled oases, traditional villages and beautiful mountain scenery.

Further along the route, we will reach the Valley of Roses, particularly beautiful during spring when the rose fields are in bloom. The region is also known for its traditional rose-based products and local craftsmanship.

Before reaching Ouarzazate, we will stop in the area of Skoura to visit the famous Kasbah Amridil, one of the finest examples of traditional earthen architecture in southern Morocco.

In the evening, we will arrive in Ouarzazate, often known as one of Morocco's main film destinations.

Our fifth day takes us from the landscapes of southern Morocco towards Marrakech, crossing the spectacular High Atlas Mountains.

After breakfast, we will leave Ouarzazate and drive towards Ait Ben Haddou, located around 20 kilometres from Ouarzazate. This ancient fortified village, built mainly from traditional earthen architecture, is one of Morocco's most iconic landmarks and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

We will take time to explore the ksar, walking through its narrow passages and traditional houses while enjoying views of the surrounding landscape. The combination of mud-brick buildings, defensive walls and the surrounding oasis makes Ait Ben Haddou one of the most impressive cultural sites in southern Morocco.

The village has also become internationally famous as a filming location and has appeared in several major film and television productions, including Game of Thrones.

After the visit, we will continue towards the High Atlas Mountains, following the winding road to the famous Tizi n'Tichka Pass, which reaches approximately 2,260 metres above sea level.

As we cross the mountains, the landscape changes dramatically, with spectacular peaks, traditional Berber villages, fertile valleys and small agricultural areas accompanying us along the route.
